Australians and the Brazilian community are invited to join this mission of connection, compassion, and meaningful impact
CASA, an Australian-registered charity with a Brazilian heart, proudly announces the fourth edition of #LembradeCasa, an annual Christmas campaign that supports and nourishes Brazilian families in need. This year, #LembradeCasa aims to raise funds to feed 2,000 families facing severe food insecurity, bridging Brazil and Australia through nourishing connections.
The campaign will run throughout November, with each donation of $50 AUD funding a hamper to feed a family of four for two weeks, ensuring they can celebrate with hope, dignity, and nourishment. Donations of any amount can be made via the website at https://acasa.org.au/ and the food hampers will be delivered in December, with a live stream on CASA’s YouTube channel.
Currently 21,6 million people are affected by hunger in Brazil*. “We believe in the power of the global community to make a difference, for most of these families we are their only chance to have a Christmas dinner this year. CASA has distributed over 170 tons of food in Brazil to date”, explained Emilie da Silva Stratford, CEO of CASA.
Over 50 volunteers are engaged with this cause, which supports 20 organizations. “Equivalent to 80% of Australia’s population currently face food insecurity in Brazil. A cause that allows Brazilians living far from home to give back and offers Australians a way to impact families in need”, commented Emilie.
#LembradeCasa 2024 is created to highlight the connection between Brazil and Australia, helping to build a bridge of hope and solidarity. The campaign’s idea isn't just to fill plates, but also nourishes communities and strengthens the local economy by sourcing food to small businesses in Brazil. Whether by donating or spreading the word, supporting CASA aligns a company’s corporate values with a cause that resonates beyond borders, enhancing their corporate responsibility initiatives and adding value to their stakeholders.
A new website, social media contents, sponsorship at Brazilian events, email marketing and participation of ambassadors were designed to support the project. A video is also part of the campaign, reminding everyone that heroes don’t always wear capes.
This is the first time CASA is supporting organizations from every region in Brazil. Below are the 20 organizations selected this year: ASIC - Associação Semeando Integração a Cidadania (AM),
SOMAP - Associação de moradores do bairro de Petrópolis (AM), Movimento das Mulheres Negras da Floresta – Dandara (AM), ADCEA - Associação das Donas de Casa do Estado do Amazonas (AM), Instituto de Inclusão e Cidadania (AM), Instituto Cultural Bantu (BA), Organização Gongombira de Cultura e Cidadania (BA), Águas do Paulista (BA), Raizes da Mãe Terra - Tribo Fulnio (PE), Raizes da Mãe Terra - Tribo Kariri (AL), Paróquia Santa Teresa de Cacultá (SP), Projeto Estrela do Natal (SP), Projeto Refúgio - AOS - Apoio aos Sertanejos (RN), Centro Cultural e Educational Mandingueiros do Amanhã (MA), Grupo Amparar (NGO - Solar Colombino Augusto de Bastos Asilo) (GO), Grupo Amparar (NGO Associação das portadoras de Câncer de Mama) (GO), Amigos Solidários do Galpão (RS), Portal Universalista (RS), Centro de Referência Indigena (RS), Lions Clube and Florestal Lajeado (RS)
Founded in 2020, CASA bridges communities worldwide, rooted in solidarity, equality, and human transformation. The organization provides tax-deductible opportunities for donors with official recognition from the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Australians and Brazilian expats like to contribute to a cause that not only supports families but also fosters economic sustainability.
Since its founding, CASA has distributed over 170 tones of food across Brazil, contributing more than 1 million reais to support disaster relief efforts, such as in Rio Grande do Sul. CASA has impacted more than 50,000 lives nationwide, embodying the spirit of giving back to roots and helping those in need.
Becoming a CASA sponsor is a chance to participate in something meaningful, bridging Brazil and Australia in a unique partnership of love and shared purpose. Sponsors receive tax benefits, visibility through CASA’s website and social media, and an opportunity to contribute directly to Brazilian communities.
